- Progress is essentially the application of intelligence
- The direction of all intelligence is towards more cooperative, decentralized, and creative levels. That goes for civilization as well. Totalitarian systems are uncompetitive in the long run and will always loose out.
- During history, one industry after another has shifted from being manual or industrial to being predominantly based on information technology. Once that happens, the progress accelerates dramatically.The chemical, pharmaceutical, and financial industries were among the first to make that transition, and farming is now following. Alternative energy should be next in line.
- The development of all intelligence is by nature hyper exponential, and the intelligence of human civilization as well as humans themselves will accelerate over the coming decades due to IT, genomics, globalization and self-modification.
- Human happiness depends predominantly on the degrees of freedom – especially economic freedom, and also on income and wealth.
